Provenienti da Scandiano, ma di più antica origine modenesi. Sono degni di ricordo: Antonio del dottore in medicina Giovanni Battista (1739-1821), letterato e dottore in leggi, occupato in diverse magistrature e luogotenente nei domini estensi e finalmente in Modena quella presidente della Corte di Giustizia al tempo di Napoleone, poscia presidente del Tribunale di prima istanza sotto gli austroestensi. Per le sue benemerenze come luogotenente ducale in Mirandola, il Consiglio di quella città lo ascriveva con tutta la sua discendenza al ceto nobile mirandolese (26 novembre 1795). Il figlio di lui, Giulio Ottavio, dottore in giurisprudenza, bibliofilo appassionato e distinto archeologo, resse l'ufficio di Direttore della polizia in Modena e morì assassinato per mano di Carbonaro il 19 maggio 1822. I figli suoi Ottavio e Carlo, il 28 febbraio 1844 ottennero d'essere ascritti alla nobiltà della Mirandola siccome discendenti dell'avv. Antonio che l'aveva conseguita come si è detto nel 1795. ...
