Famille d'origine noble ou notable sùre, citée par les sources bibliographiques traditionnelles qui témoignent comme la famille a laissé ses traces dans les temps. Bien que les renseignements ne soient pas certains quant à la date de son origine et à son emplacement sur le territoire, il est certes possible d'avoir la confirmation de la noblesse acquise en lisant le blason. Il est certain que dans les temps, dans la succession de faits historiques de petite ou grande envergure, la souche originaire a pu donner lieu à de nombreuses branches qui peuvent fleurir dans plusieurs régions françaises. A ce même nom, on attribue un signe distinctif de noblesse représenté par le blason que l'on reproduit ci-dessous et qui confirme aussi à travers ses emblêmes, au point de vue historique et héraldique, l'assurance d'une valeur historique de patrimoine, de noblesse et de valeur. Parmi les membres les plus célèbres on signale: un échevin de Nantes en 1680; deux maîtres des comptes depuis 1723; un général des finances en Bretagne, en 1730; un capitaine commandant au régiment de Bassigny en 1778, pris à l'attaque de Paimbœuf par les Vendéens et décapité à Nantes en 1793.
