A família é originária de Abruzzo Chietino. A Gabriele, nascido em Francavilla a Mare em 12 de março de 1864, poeta, escritor e grande escritor, membro do Parlamento, voluntário na guerra ítalo-austríaca como capitão de cavalaria, decorado com uma medalha de ouro por valor militar por ações desde maio de 1915 em novembro de 1918, que realizou a memorável companhia de aviação sobre Viena durante as hostilidades, em geral na R. Areonautica, comandante de Fiume cuja anexação ele propôs, com DR motu proprio do rei SM Vittorio Emanuele III, de 15 de março de 1924, recebeu o título do príncipe de Montevenoso (mpr.) e com RD 29 de abril de 1926 e RR. LL. PP. 9 de maio de 1926, um brasão nobre especial. A presença do lema na bibliografia documentada da família confirma a nobreza ancestral da família. D'azzurro al Monte nevoso d'argento accompagnato in capo dalla costellazione dell'Orsa maggiore d'argento (7 stelle di 7 punte cad.). Ornamenti dello scudo: Il cordone francescano. Elmo e corona: da principe. Padiglione: con il colmo di ermellino e frangia d'oro; con la cortina formata dalla bandiera della reggenza italiana del Carnaro (campo rosso con il serpe di verde mordentesi con la coda e con il nastro con lettere in oro "Quis contra nos?" e con la costellazione dell'Orsa Maggiore in argento. La cortina è fermata con i piuoli. Trofeo: Dietro il padiglione sorgono le bandiere di Fiume (viola, oro e azzurro) e della Dalmazia (d'azzurro a tre teste di leopardo coronate d'oro).
