Antica ed assai nobile famiglia siciliana detta Colletorto o Collotorto. Riccardo C. della città di Noto fù capo della guardia del Duca Giovanni di Noto, e di Randazzo, figlio del Rè Federico II, dal quale acquistò il feudo della Mendola, che per il suo cognome poscia si chiamò di C.; à costui successe nella medesma Baronia Matteo, che fù uno de' principali Baroni di Noto. Da Matteo ne nacque, Riccardo, che seguì nel medesmo feudo, ed à lui Buonamico C. suo figlio, che procreò, Giovan Matteo, che se ne investì nel 1453, al quale anche Nicolò nel 1481, e parimente Matteo, che fu padre d'un altro Nicolò, che s'investì di quello nel 1512. Il Giovan Matteo predetto hebbe la Baronia del feudo di Casba nel 1416, e si casò con la figlia di Giovanni Cusasio Baron del feudo del Vigliaturi, ouer Abigliaturi, nel qual feudo gli successe Luca Cusasiio suo
