Antichissima famiglia, detta Moro o De Moro, originaria di Roma, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse provincie italiane. Dal ramo stabilitosi a Padova discese Alboino, Console a Rialto, nel 424, da come si legge nelle cronache venete. Verso il mille abitavano a Negroponte; poco dopo un Domenico fu Episcopo di Venezia ed un Giovanni, investito della dignità di Patriarca di Grado nel 1121, lasciò fama di uomo virtuoso nelle pubbliche memorie. A Murano, Stefano, nell'ottobre 1143, regalò alla chiesa di S. Salvatore, edificata dal suo bisavolo Domenico, le rendite di alcune possessioni. Nelle memorie di questa famiglia è da ricordare quel Luigi, Capitano di armata, che riportò una vittoria dei veneziani sopra i triestini, nel 1280, e Simone, uomo di chiarissimo sapere, parroco di S. Trovaso, di S. Barnaba, di S. Pantaleone e finalmente Vescovo di Castello, dove morì nel 1293 circa. Compresi tra il patriziato nel 1297, i
