Família antiga e muito nobre da Riviera ocidental da Ligúria, originária de Ventimiglia, onde vivia "ante annum millesimum", que se espalhou ao longo dos séculos em várias regiões da Itália. Segundo alguns autores, os Galleanos, Galleani, Galliani e Galliano são a mesma prosapia. O primeiro dos galeses que apareceu em Nice em 1307 foi Raymond. Nesse sentido, uma declaração do governo da República de 1616 e o Diploma do Príncipe da SRI conferido por Francesco em 1761 a Carlo Giacinto Gallean de Avignon, citado originalmente de Nice, soariam.
