Família da Calábria antiga, que alguns escritores acreditam que recebeu esse nome da terra que possuía. Rinaldo e Tommaso foram despojados de suas posses pelo rei Carlos I de Anjou, por seguirem as partes da Suábia. Gerardo contestável na Calábria por Carlo Illustre. Essa família participou das lutas entre o Urbano VI e o antipapa Clemente VII. Leonardo, general dos Observadores Menores, foi criado por esses cardeais, mas foi preso pela ordem de Carlos III de Durazzo, que o enviou ao papa Urbano VI depois de ter queimado publicamente suas vestes cardinais. Horácio participou da defesa de Malta contra os turcos em 1565. Fabrizio fundou o mosteiro dos Observadores Menores em Cinquefrondi. Esta família possuía Tortora, Altavilla e Cinquefrondi. Em 1615, foi decorado com o título de Marquês nesta terra, passado juntamente com o título em 1712 à família Pescara. Em 1703, foi recebido por justiça na ordem de Malta
