Die alte kalabresische Familie, von der einige Schriftsteller glauben, dass sie ihren Namen von dem Land hat, das sie besaß. Rinaldo und Tommaso wurden von König Karl I. von Anjou ihrer Besitztümer beraubt, weil sie den schwäbischen Teilen gefolgt waren. Gerardo in Kalabrien für Carlo Illustre bestreitbar. Diese Familie nahm an den Kämpfen zwischen Urban VI und dem Antipop Clemens VII teil. Leonardo, General der Minor Observants, wurde von diesem Kardinal geschaffen, aber später auf Befehl von Karl III.
