Ancient and noble German family, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries, with important settlements in the United States of America. Tradition has it that it originates from Liefland; however, the first exponent of whom we have heraldic mention is a Christian Hinkeldey from Wiesen an der Lühe, near Hamburg, who first settled in Nördlingen in 1679. And in fact this family is heraldically registered as a patrician of Nördlingen (Swabia, Bavaria) and noble of the Empire. George Hinkeldey, son of Christian, was deacon of Nördlingen and died there in 1736. Hieronimus Heinrich Hinkeldey (1720 – 1805), an excellent jurist, was a Privy Councilor in Löwenstein-Wertheim, chancellor and envoy to the Franconian Circle. On 7 March 1754, he obtained confirmation of hereditary nobility with the honorific title of "von". He became president of the government and chamber of Wertheim in 1763, took his pension in
