He emigrated to North America in 1609, settling in Charleston, Connecticut, with his wife Martha. He died on the 6th of December 1681, leaving issue one son 'Stephen Holden', of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Today, 'Holden' is the 'eight hundred and fourteenth' most common surname in North America.
