Ancient and noble German family, known as Kark or Karg, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. The surname variations are not surprising. They were once very frequent, both for transcription errors and for lack of registry crystallization. According to what has been handed down, this family is originally from Bavaria and, more precisely, from the city of Regensburg. The first family members we know of are a Sigfried and his brothers, mentioned in a document of 1257. In the same year a Berthold became councilor of Regensburg and held this office until 1284. He had three children: Berthold II, Hans and Leutwein. Then we remember an Andreas K., councilor in 1485 and chamberlain of the city in 1488. Another family branch has flourished in Baden-Württemberg. In 1357 a Konrad was a patrician in Ulm and he also had large estates in Nellingen. A Sigismund
