Antica ed assai nobile famiglia tedesca, originaria della Franconia, nel land della Turingia, conosciuta come von der Kere, Ker, Keer, Kehr o Keher. Secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, essa faceva parte dell'entourage dei Conti di Henneberg, famiglia governante su diversi territori nel ducato di Franconia. In particolare agli esponenti di questa casata fu conferita la dignità di siniscalchi ("Truchsess") della contea di Henneberg. A partire dal XIV secolo essa possedette anche il castello di Schwickershausen (Grabfeld), proprietà che mantenne fino al 1747. I membri di questa nobile casata facevano anche parte del cantone dei cavalieri di Rhön-Werra (1520, 1529), un circolo di cavalieri del Sacro Romano Impero appartenente al circolo dei cavalieri della Franconia. Essi appartennero inoltre alla società dei Fürspänger, esclusiva società cavalleresca della Franconia, fondata il 13 agosto 1396 da ventisei aristocratici. Di ..., ad un piccione sorante sopra un terreno di verde. Cimiero: le armi dello scudo tra due corna di bufalo.
