Ancient and noble Austrian family, originally from Salzburg, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. The clear nobility of this House is also confirmed by its presence in some of the most valuable heraldik works, such as: "The Armorial General" by JB Rietstap, a monumental work that contains the blazons of the coats of arms of more than 130,000 European families, and "Johann Siebmachers allgemeines großes und vollständiges Wappenbuch", a heraldic multivolume book regarding the nobility of the Holy Roman Empire. Dr Joseph Kofler, public notary and later private advisor and chamberlain to Archbishop Paris von Lodron, was ennobled by Emperor Leopold I, with a diploma given in Vienna on July 8, 1699, obtaining the "von Koflern" predicate.
