Illustre famiglia, originaria di Visso, che si trasferì a S. Severino sulla fine del secolo XIV, dove fu ascritta a quel patriziato. I suoi membri, nella nuova patria, ricoprirono le più alte cariche civiche di console, priore e di gonfaloniere. Alcuni furono vicari e governatori in varie città;i membri Luzioli ebbero alti gradi accademici, militari e distinzioni cavalleresche. Francesco Maria e Bernardino furono prelati alla corte di Roma. Anton Nicola , fu consultore della provincia e più volte gonfaloniere. Giancarlo fu eletto deputato nell'VIII sec. per ben 4 volte, quindi senatore. Ma la gloria maggiore fu Marchesina che con il titolo di Beata fu, nel 1498, innalzata agli onori degli altari. Giov. Battista, nel 1637, fu ascritto alla nobiltà di Montalto; Giovan Carlo ebbe nel 1815 da Pio VII il titolo di Marchese di Votalarca. La Consulta Araldica con Decreto Ministeriale 18 maggio 1912 ascrisse la famiglia nel Libro d'Oro
