Ab der ersten Hälfte des 14. Jahrhunderts blühte diese Adelsfamilie in Locarno auf, von der ein Francesco mit Akt 1. November 1349 einen Jus-Meister in der Kapelle von S. Antonio von Padua in der Stiftskirche von S. Vittore in Muralto gründete. Diese Familie gehörte immer zu den ersten im Land, die der Borghesi-Gilde zugeschrieben wurden, und übte den Jus-Meister in der Stiftskirche, der Madonna del Sasso und in S. Antonio aus. Die Marcacci hatten fast immer die Steuerposition von Locarno inne und wurden dem Podestà von Gambarogno und Verzasca bestätigt. Von der Stadt Solothurn erhielten sie 1665 den Titel eines Patriziers und die Bestätigung des Adels durch König August III. Von Polen, 1677 Rang eines Barons und Botschafters bei den Schweizern. Als Giovanni-Antonio Marcacci wurde er nach verschiedenen ehrenamtlichen Tätigkeiten im Inland 1804 mit dieser Regierung zum Geschäftsführer der Schweiz in Mailand ernannt und blieb in diesem Amt auch bei
