Antica ed assai nobile famiglia originaria della Toscana con insediamenti cospicui in Firenze, Santo Spirito e Nicchio; nel corso dei secoli il casato si è propagato in diverse regioni del Regno; nel sud si leggono alcune variazioni cognominali quali de' Marmi o Marmo. Questa famiglia ha fondato nel 1714 una Commenda perciò si è resa Nobile. Ne è la Casa al Canto a quattro Leoni. Lo stemma della famiglia Marmi è così blasonato: "Fasciato ondato d'argento e d'azzurro, al capo d'oro caricato di tre palle di rosso ordinate fra i quattro pendenti di un lambello d'azzurro" e si trova nei Libri d'oro, per l'ammissione alla nobiltà fiorentina di Giuseppe Ermenegildo Marmi (1768). Alias: "D'argento, a due fasce ondate d'azzurro, e al capo pure d'argento, sostenuto da una divisa d'oro, caricato di tre palle di rosso, poste tra i quattro pendenti di un lambello d'azzurro" ed è riportato nelle Filze
