Apellido lusitano. Pedro M., Virrey de las Indias y Embajador del Rey don Juan III de Portugal en Roma, llevó a su patria a los jesuíta españoles, entre los que se contaba San Francisco Javier. De una casa de M. radicada en la ciudad de Lisboa, procedió Francisco M., que se unió en matrimonio con doña Jerónimo de Castro, como él, natural de Lisboa, y fueron padres de Jorge M. y Castro, natural de Lisboa y Marqués de Montalbán, que casó con doña Francisca de Melo y Manuel, llamada también Francisca de Villar, de igual naturaleza (hija de Manuel de Melo, natural de San Payo, y de doña María Manuel). De esa unión fué hijo Jerónimo M. y Melo, llamado también Jerónimo M. y Villena, natural de Lisboa y Caballero de la Orden de Calatrava, en la que ingresó el 22 de Mayo de 1641. A la misma familia perteneció el Doctor Luis Rebello de Carvallo M., Corregidor de Barrio-Alto, que casó con doña Leonarda Magdalena Villa-Lobos, a la que hizo madre de Francisco M. Villa-Lobos, Caballero profeso de la Orden de Cristo, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Teresa de Silva Franza, naciendo de esta unión Gabriel José M. Villa-Lobos y Silva, que celebró su enlace con doña Catalina Corra de Miranda, y procrearon a Francisco M. Villa-Lobos y Correa, Alférez del Regimiento de Infantería de guarnición en la ciudad de Pará.
