Nobile famiglia lucchese che, dopo avere ottenuta la cittadinanza nel 1470, dette cospicui personaggi alle più alte cariche della Repubblica, del Principato e del Ducato, mentre ebbe uomini illustri nella pietà e nello studio. Gaspero fu lodato pittore del secolo XV; Pietro, di Vincenzo, è ricordato come generoso filantropo del secolo XVII; Eufrosina fu nota poetessa del secolo XIX, traduttrice dell'Eneide; Vincenzo, di Pietro, prese parte al Governo Provvisorio del 1814, coprì l'ufficio di Soprintendente della Lista Civile e dei Beni della Corona, di Maggiordomo e Gran Maresciallo di Corte. Fu nominato Senatore del Principato Napoleonico il 22 maggio 1810, e rivestì la carica di Consigliere di Stato del Ducato Borbonico.
