Antica e nobile famiglia milanese (Lombardia, Italia), appartenuta all'ordine dei Vavassori fin dal IX secolo, di chiara e avita virtù, che si è diffusa in tutto il mondo, nel corso dei secoli. Ne narrano i più illustri storici e araldisti italiani. E infatti questa nobile stirpe ha dato alla patria consoli, governatori di giustizia e decurioni, ambasciatori e capitani illustri, podestà e governatori, consiglieri ducali e giudici del collegio nonché quattro arcivescovi di Milano. Già nel XII secolo era molto potente nella città di Milano, dove aveva proprie case presso la chiesa di S. Alessandro. Alla fine dello stesso secolo, i suoi membri erano elencati come appartenenti al partito dei Motta; a volte erano contrari e a volte favorevoli ai Torriani. Ottone Visconti annoverò questa famiglia nella "Matricola degli Ordinari" e il nome dei Pusterla si ritrova in ogni pagina delle cronache milanesi almeno fino all'inizio del XIV secolo. Fu
