Alte und adelige italienische Familie, ursprünglich aus Bene, dann aber nach Fossano gezogen, beides piemontesische Gemeinden in der Gegend von Cuneo, von klarer und angestammter Tugend, die sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte weltweit verbreitet hat. In heraldischen Registern als Carrassi bekannt, wurden seine vielen Zweige im Laufe der Zeit manchmal unterschiedlich transkribiert. Unter den bezeugten Formen tauchen Varrassi und Carazzo auf; seltener, aber auch belegt, die Formen Carasso, Varasso und Carrozza. Das erste uns bekannte Familienmitglied ist Carlo, Schatzmeister des Hauses HRH bis 1638. Wir erinnern uns auch an: Onorato, Notar und Wohltäter der Kirche von Bene; Giorgio aus Bene, Richter und Ratsmitglied der Gewässer von Bene, regierender Vikar von Fossano und Rechtsanwalt für Grundsteuern von Fossano; Giovanni Michele, Ritter des Ordens der Heiligen Maurice und Lazarus, erster Assistent der Kammer von HRH und Kommandant von Bene, der das Lehen von Pramolo kaufte. Sein Sohn Carlo Giovanni Luigi Diego erhielt
