Este apellido procede de la villa de su nombre en la provincia de Logroño, desde donde se extendió pro toda España. Una de estas ramas se afincó desde la conquista, en la villa de La Orotaava. El Capitán Juan de León Perdomo, de aquella naturaleza y su mujer Doña María de C., tambíen de La Orotava, se trasladaron hacia mediados del siglo XVII, a la isla de Lanzarote, avecindándose en le lugar de San Bartolomé. Su hijo, Diego C. Perdomo, también nacido en La Orotava, casado con Doña Catalina Álvarez de Valladares, desde el 22 de junio de 1681, también se trasladó a Lanzarote, donde fue Alguacil Mayor del Santo Oficio de la Inquisición, Capitán de Regimento de Milicias provinciales de Lanzarote y Regidor, en 1671, del Cabildo de la isla. Tuvo dos hijos, Don Nicolás C. y Valladares, sucesor y Doña Antonia María, que casó con Don Gabriel de Alamo y Viera, Alcalde, de Realejo Alto. De este matrimonio nació el famoso Académico de la Real de la Historia, Don José de Viera y C., en la Realejo Alto, el 28 de diciembre de 1731, recibiendo el bautismo en la parroquia de Santiago Apóstol de la misma loacildad, el día 5 de enero del año siguiente. Don José de Viera y C. está condirado como el más insigne de los polígrafos de Canarias, contándose entre su amplia producción literaria "Noticias de la Historia General de las Islas Canarias" en cuatro tomos. Otra familia de este ilustre apellido desciende en Las Palmas de don Fernando C. y del Castillo-Olivares. ...
