The first known bearer of the name was Juan de Ibarra, natural of Marquina, son of Andrés de Ibarra and María de Ibarra, who was mentioned in a charter as arriving in Perú the 21st of January, 1592. We have also discovered certain details about an individual in the 17th century who beared the surname. Domingo de Ibarra y Ochoa was born the 10th of March in the year 1612. He married doña Salvadora Ferrero in 1657. They had a son, Juan de Ibarra y Ferrero who married doña Agueda Ferré in 1681. This couple's eldest son, Juan de Ibarra y Ferré, born 1701. Compiled information from historical and private archives has confirmed that there was a Guillermo Ibarra, Infanzón de Huesca, who organized a surprise attack on the rebels of Murcia, and, taking advantage of the darkness of the night, overtook a great convoy which was about to enter the city .
