Entre los Conquistadores de la isla de Tenerife hubo varios caballeros del apellido J., entre ellos Alonso y su hijo Francisco, que se establecieron en la ciudad de La Laguna, formando una de las casas más distinguidas por sucesivos enlaces con las familias de García de Albújar, noble de la villa de Calzadilla en Extremadura; la de Vargas, fundada por Sancho de Vargas Conquistador de Gran Canaria y Tenerife; con los Jovel de Carmenatis; con los Tabares, antiguos señores del Valle; etc., etc. Procedián Alonso y Francisco de J. de antiguo y noble linaje andaluz, según se comprueba en las informaciones de sus descendientes. Se apellidaban con tal nombre, por ser naturales de la ciudad de J., donde tenían su casa solariega. En Canarias los miembros de este familia figuraron desde el siglo XVI, en las gloriosas milicias del país, como oficiales noble, y probaron su hidalguía y limpieza de sangre por medio de informaciones ante la Justicia de Tenerife, siendo repetidas veces ampara dos en sus privilegios de nobleza. ...
