However, a Wada was the name of one of the ealdormen concerned in the murder of the Northumbrian king Ethelred towards the close of the eighth century. One of the first fore fathers to bring this name to America is that of a Jonathon Wade, who emigrated to America aboard the Lion on the 22nd of June, 1632; he settled at Ipswich, Massachusetts.
