Giacomo Giuseppe Paglietti, a distinguished doctor of medicine, a well-deserving professor at the Royal University of Cagliari, reached the high position of chief physician in the kingdom and island of Sardinia, and his son Carlo, a doctor of laws, a learned jurist, was a judge of the Civil Hall of the Royal Audience. However, in consideration of the high services rendered to the State, Charles Emmanuel IV, King of Sardinia, with the diplomas dated 13 September 1799 granted the aforementioned Charles and his sons and male descendants the titles of knight and noble. The names of Don Carlo himself and of the members of his family are included in the list of noble persons, residing in the city of Cagliari in 1825, compiled by the Royal Secretariat of State and War at the Viceroy of Sardinia.
